Mothers Day Scams May Hit

Once Facebook weeds out all of the malware masquerading as faux Osama Bin Laden photos and video, the next meme for ne’er-do-wells will likely be Mother’s Day.

So warns BitDefender’s Malware City blog.

The security company suggests that Facebook users keep an eye out for Mother’s Day themed phishing scams and spam, in addition to malware. Of course, the vendor recommends you update your security software with modules for protection against phishing, spam and malware.
Other suggestions include:
  • Don’t open attachments from unknown senders.
  • Don’t conduct any financial transactions nor shop online while using a public network.
