Region 5 Officer Saves Patients Life

On June 11th, Officer Nick Treantafellow identified a patient that entered the ER of the hospital site he was working in St. Petersburg, FL as having possible signs of a heart attack.  He immediately bypassed the normal procedure and took this patient to a nurse’s station for immediate care.  Shortly thereafter, the patient went into ventricular fibrillation followed by full cardiac arrest.  Because the patient was taken directly to a nurse and they were with the patient when it occurred, they were able to save this patient’s life.  Nursing staff stated if regular procedures had been followed then this patient probably would have died in the waiting room.  Officer Treantafellow’s actions and quick thinking saved this patient’s life and we are proud to call him one of our officers.

Lori Morrow,
Regional Manager- Region 5
