Language Barrier Overcome

On Sunday July 10th, one of our officers, Corporal Philip Kosov, went above and beyond the call of duty in regards to courtesy and compassion.  Corporal Kosov, a native of Russia, helped out when nobody else could.  A terminally ill patients spouse spoke only Russian and doctors could not communicate with her.  The medical staff quickly learned that Corporal Kosov spoke Russian and could probably help out with the translation.  Without hesitation, Kosov agreed to translate.  Corporal Kosov was able to bridge a gap of communication in helping the wife of the patient understand the circumstances surrounding her husband.  Corporal Kosov received a letter of commendation from the hospital staff for his actions, stating “he showed true eloquence and care” during this challenging process.  Corporal Kosov is being nominated for an award for his efforts.
