Suspect Charged for Security Officers Murder

Memphis Police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a security officer at the Bent Tree Apartments last weekend. 41-year old Reginald Thompson was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound when officers arrived at the complex around 9:30pm on October 23rd. He was transported to The Med, where he later died.

Investigators said that Thompson, who worked for Yale Enforcement Services as an officer for Bent Tree Apartments, was shot by 18-year old Xavier Davis. According to the affidavit, Thompson was arguing with an unknown person when Davis starting shooting at the guard. Davis and the second suspect fled the scene on foot. A witness later identified Davis from a photo spread.

Xavier Davis was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder; he is being held at the Shelby County Jail without bond. He is due in court on November 2nd.
